Funny you should start a discussion on this topic. I ask that question on the rare occasions (these days) I get a job interview. Not everyone has decided what to do about social media, and thus maintain the status quo. Either that, or I haven't found positions are progressive companies that would welcome the opportunity to benefit from my experience in social media. I think, too, that companies should evaluate social media platforms, and not take an "all or nothing" approach. Some platforms work better than others, depending on any number of factors. I suspect, too, the "lock down" varies by industry as some are far more protective of IP than others. Eventually though, a balance will need to be struck. College graduates these days are used to access, which was never an issue with my generation as, well, "social networking" consisted of IMing and phone calls to meet up between a set of hours at some pre-determined spot.
