Women Attorneys
Group Information
Do men still dominate the legal profession, or have we women firmly established ourselves? We've heard passionate arguments on both sides of that issue, but one thing is certain: women attorneys often face issues that don't impact their male colleagues. This is the place to discuss your experiences and share information and advice with other women in the legal profession.

Dana, I think that question depends on whether or not you are trying to raise a family, but also, roles are changing as the economy is forcing women to become "bread winners" and men to be "home makers." In some economic sectors, anyway. Sometimes it is the woman who is still employed and it is the man who has been laid off. I'd wager, too, that it is difficult to both, but perhaps more so for women as they are still seen as the "home maker" in addition to the "power lawyer" or "executive." Just speculating, though. I'm curious now myself what others think....

Here's a question for the ladies here: Do you think you have an easier or harder time finding true work-life balance than your male counterparts? I'm very interested in your responses and wonder what you feel about it.

Random thought: are female lawyers on TV more like actual representations of female lawyers, caricatures or the ideal? Law, like many professions, is a predominately male profession. It just struck me how male and female lawyers are portrayed on TV, and that the number of male and female lawyers I know is about equal.
